Gretchen and Ed will lead a simple walk that ultimately gets us to the far end of the new bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Hwy 101.  We will walk to the part of the bridge that Ralph's walk of a few weeks ago got to, just to ensure ourselves that the bridge actually connects:)

To begin the walk we will gather at the parking lot at the north end of San Antonio Road, adjacent to access to the Charleston Slough area of the Baylands.  We will gather at 10 am in front of the restrooms there.  Following the paved pathway, we will walk out toward the Baylands toward a cinder block building, then make a sharp left turn continuing on the pathway back toward Hwy 101 along Adobe Creek.  We will then turn right onto the bike/pedestrian path along the frontage road (East Bayshore) and bear further right to ascend to the bridge. About 100 yards along this route there is a viewing area with some sculptures and explanatory signage. For the thrill-seekers among us, a visit to the center of the bridge allows views of the traffic zooming by below. We will return to where we started along the same paved paths.  The total distance of this walk is about 1.5 miles. It is all even footing on paved paths and, except for going up to the bridge itself, the paths are all level.  The paths are two-way.  Bicycle riders use the same paths. We are looking forward to seeing you and walking with you.

Village Walkers, a Village Members only group, take turns leading walks in local neighborhoods or areas of interest. A longer and shorter walk are usually planned for the route to accommodate differing needs. Contact Ralph Cahn via call or text at (650) 245-0280 to be added to the Walkers email list, to receive descriptions and directions for each week's walk.
