More mild weather should be in store for us on this Wednesday walk. We'll meet in Palo Alto's small Monroe Park with our leaders Mary and Roger Ashley. Arrive in time to park and meet at 9:45 for introductions and announcements. Remember to wear your name tag. Here is the detailed message from Mary including a highlighted GPS reference address:
On Wednesday May 15 we will be exploring a tucked-away neighborhood right on the Mountain View border. We will visit two parks in one block, one in each city, then cross a bike-pedestrian bridge over Adobe Creek to explore the quiet neighborhood that expanded quite a bit as Rickeys and PA Elks Lodge sold off and developed their properties. Watch for the two houses going up with prefab metal components as we walk on Wilkie Way.
The walk is flat, mostly paved sidewalks and a bit of paved streets without sidewalks. The bridge is wooden. We will meet at Monroe Park at the corner of Monroe Drive and Miller Avenue. Google recognizes Monroe Park without a street address, Nearby address is 375 Monroe Drive, but you’ll see the Monroe Park sign first. El Camino is the easiest route. From the North Monroe is just past Dinah’s Court. From the South Cesano Court is the street before the turn. The large US Bank on the corner of EC a good landmark if you aren’t using navigation. In two blocks you will see the Monroe Park sign on the right. Parking is on neighborhood streets.
Village Walkers, a Village Members only group, take turns leading walks in local neighborhoods or areas of interest. A longer and shorter walk are usually planned for the route to accommodate differing needs. Contact Ralph Cahn via call or text at (650) 245-0280 to be added to the Walkers email list, to receive descriptions and directions for each week's walk.
