Our Village members, Mary and Jacques Fossourier, are delighted to invite you to join them for a special visit to the Los Altos History Museum’s exhibition, “The Spirit of ’76 – Reflecting on America’s 250th.” They will serve as our knowledgeable and gracious docents, sharing their insights and guiding us through a private tour reserved exclusively for Villagers.

The 250th anniversary of the United States calls for reflection—not only on the nation’s beginnings, but also on its future. This exhibition explores the history and meaning of the Declaration of Independence, asking visitors to consider the text’s relevance today, and their own role in ensuring the promises of freedom and equality for all. It also looks back at previous moments of reflection, including local celebrations, protests, and community-building projects that coincided with the Bicentennial. Photographs, artifacts, and stories highlight examples of civic duty and service in our own community.
